RIVERBEND PARK

If you're looking for a peaceful and scenic escape to the outdoors in Jupiter, then look no further than Riverbend Park. This beautiful park offers visitors a chance to connect with nature and enjoy a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding and more.

One of the park's highlights is its miles of trails. Visitors can explore the park on foot and enjoy the beautiful scenery, including the Loxahatchee River and the lush vegetation surrounding it. The trails are well-maintained and offer an easy hike for those looking for a relaxing nature walk, as well as a challenge for those seeking more strenuous run. Pets are not allowed within the park; however, bike riding is permitted throughout the park's many trails.

Don't have a bike? Feel free to rent one from Jupiter Outdoor Center located near the entrance of the park.

The park spans over 140 acres and features several different habitats, including pine and cypress forests, mangrove swamps, and freshwater wetlands. This diversity of environments makes for a unique and interesting experience for visitors. In addition to hiking, the park offers a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. The Loxahatchee River is home to a variety of fish species, making it a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts.

The park also has several canoe and kayak launches, allowing visitors to explore the river and observe the wildlife that call it home. If you're up for a real challenge, attempt to paddle the entire Loxahatchee river starting from Riverbend and concluding at the boat ramp located within Jonathon Dickinson park. This route starts as a winding freshwater river surrounded by cypress and ferns, crosses several dams, passes Trapper Nelson's early homestead and concludes in brackish mangrove-lined waters. Please note: another vehicle will need to be used to transport kayakers and gear.

Don't have a canoe or kayak? These can also be rented from Jupiter Outdoor Center.

For those interested in history, Riverbend Park is also home to several Native American archaeological sites. Visitors can learn about the rich history of the region and see firsthand evidence of the native tribes that once lived there. The 64 acre Battlefield Park was the location of two known battles between early US military forces and the Seminole Indians. The first battle "Powell Battle" took place on January 15th, 1838, where a naval unit led by Levin M. Powell was defeated by the Seminole tribes. On January 24th, 1838 Major General Thomas S. Jesup returned with fifteen hundred troops to defeat three hundred Seminole Indians in the last standing battle of the Second Seminole War, later referred to as "Jesup's Battle."
